Yorkville Flag Football is excited to launch Friday Night Lights @ Gansevoort Peninsula - a Bring Your Own Team league! This is an exclusive opportunity for teams to play together, compete with official NFL FLAG tournament rules, and experience all the action at the scenic Gansevoort Peninsula.
This exciting league will be our first ever league where teams must be formed and come with their own coaches, making it a unique opportunity for those who want to compete exclusively with their friends or schoolmates.
Here are the key details:
- Location: Gansevoort Peninsula, Manhattan
- Divisions (Strict Date-of-Birth Cutoffs):
- Empire: Born on or after 8/1/2013
- Liberty: Born on or after 8/1/2011
- Gotham: Born on or after 8/1/2009
- Game Format:
- Official NFL FLAG tournament rules
- 5-on-5
- 2 x 12-minute halves with running clock
- Substitute freely throughout the game
- No 2nd QB rule
- Double Headers: Each team will play 2 games per night, for example - a 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM game for the Empire division.
- Game Times (all games approx. 30 mins):
- Empire: 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM
- Liberty: 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM
- Gotham: 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM
- Team Size: Minimum 7, Maximum 10 players per team (no exceptions). Teams cannot change their rosters during the season.
LIMITED SPACE - We will be accepting only 8 teams per division, so this league will fill up FAST! To allow all families an opportunity to create their roster, registration will open on Thursday, February 20 at 9:00 AM. Please mark your calendars! Please do not ask us to hold a spot for your team - there will be NO PRE-REGISTRATION – Registration for all will take place at 9:00AM on February 20!!
Key Dates and Information:
- Registration: Opens Thursday, February 20 at 9:00 AM
- Game Days: Friday Nights
- Season Start: April 11
- No Games On: April 18 or May 23
- End of Season: June 6
- Total Games: 12 regular season games + Championship Friday!
- Championship (June 6): Gold and Silver brackets will be determined by the standings, with the top 4 teams in each division competing for the Gold Championship Rings and the bottom 4 for the Silver Championship Rings.
Other Highlights:
- CUSTOM JERSEYS!! Teams who register and have their full roster completed and uploaded before February 27 will have the opportunity to design their own fully customizable reversible jerseys - included with registration!
- Teams may also provide their own jerseys or request an official NFL FLAG team uniform set included with registration.
- Coaches: All teams must provide their own adult coaches. Yorkville allows up to 2 coaches per team. Coaches are not permitted to be on the field to call plays - they must remain on the sidelines.
This league is only for teams—we are unable to accept individual registrants. If your child wants to play but doesn't have a team, we encourage them to register for our Recreational League on Randall’s Island on Friday nights or Sundays.
Please note:
- No exceptions to age cutoffs or team capacity limits - Proof of age must be uploaded with registration.
- Rosters must be submitted no later than April 1.
