JUST CHILLY's FLIGHT CLUB
7-ON-7 TOURNAMENT RULES - June 2022

Pool play games will be 25 minutes long with a running clock with no timeouts.  A horn will start the 25 minute time frame for the game.  A horn will sound at the end of the 25 minutes.  If the end of game horn is blown and the offense has snapped the ball prior to the sound of the horn, the play can continue.  If the offense has not snapped the ball when the end of game horn has sounded, the game is over.  Referees will have the final say on this matter. Approximately 5-minutes in between games.

There is NO halftime in game play. If play is stopped due to an injury and the player cannot be removed from the field, the referee will add “injury time” to the end of the game.  The referee will notify the coaches of the amount of time added to the clock.  The referee will keep track of the time for the remainder of the game on the field.  Teams will have 30 seconds to huddle/snap the ball once the ball is placed down by the official following a play.

Between pool play and tournament play, there will be an approximate 30 minute or less break. This will give the staff a chance to set up the tournament bracket and field locations.  Once the brackets have been distributed to the coaches...they will be given 15 minutes to move their gear to the proper field and get loose for the game.

The field will be 53 1/3 yards wide and 40 yards long with 10 yard end zones.

The tournament bracket will be set up based on the following:
1)  W-L record
2)  Point Differential
3)  Total Points Allowed
4)  Coin Flip

SCORING/GENERAL RULES
●     Each team will begin possession with the ball on the 40-yard-line going in.  The ball will be placed in the middle of the field to begin the game.
●     Each team will have 3 downs to gain 15 yards for a first down.  The first downs will be at the 25-yard-line and the 10-yard line.  If the offense moves into the last 10-yard area, they will be allowed 3 downs to score.
●     Touchdowns are worth 6 points. 1 point conversions are automatic.  Let the referee know following the touchdown if you would like to go for a two point conversion.
●     2-point conversions will be from the 5-yard line.
●     Interceptions by the defense are worth 2 points on a regular, non-conversion play.  Ball will be placed at the 30-yard line.  On 2-point conversion attempts, interceptions are worth zero points and the other team gains possession beginning at the 40-yard line.
●     Each QB has 4 seconds or less to release the ball following the snap.  There will be a referee keeping time for sacks. Defenses CAN take the result of the play after 4 seconds.
●     NO BLITZING at any time.
●     NO RUNNING PLAYS. A forward toss on a jet sweep is considered a pass.
●     Only ONE coach per team is allowed in the huddle on the offensive side of the ball. Players not in the game that are by the offensive coach must be on a knee or on the sideline (maximum of 2 subs). Everyone else must rotate in from the sideline. Defensive coaches must call the defense from the sideline.
●     Each team is allowed one pass per play.  No double passes, No laterals.  Swing passes to the back are permitted.
●     Each play must be run from a legal formation according to AIA rules with a center (player on knee will be sufficient since most linemen will be at the Big Man Competition). Coaches can not snap.
●     Should a “tournament game” go into overtime, each team has a possession from the 40-yard line and one play to gain the most yardage.  Possession is determined by a coin flip.  The team that gains the most yardage, on their one play, wins. Interception  - the other team still gets their possession.
●     Pool play games will not have overtime.
●     The offensive team is allowed to have 6 skill players, including the QB, five eligible receivers and a center.  The center is not eligible at any point.
●     The defensive team must have NO MORE THAN 7 players on the field.
●     Any fumble, downfield, results in the play being dead from the spot of the fumble. If the QB drops the snap, you have 4 seconds to get the ball out.
●     A play will be called dead and the ball-carrier will be marked down after being tagged with ONE hand.
●     You cannot snap the ball with more than 8 receivers (9 including the center) in the offensive huddle.

UNSPORTSMANLIKE PENALTIES

This includes swearing, taunting, talking back to an official, etc. These rules include coaches.

●     Second offense is an ejection from the entire tournament. Players/coaches that are ejected from the tournament must leave the field area before the game can continue. Coaches - enforce the rules.
●     Forfeiting the game is completely at the discretion of the referees present on the field and all decisions are final.
